THE SLAPS MUDGLIMMER

Chicago band The Slaps have revealed the title track, ‘Mudglimmer’, from their upcoming album. Their sound is raw, idiosyncratic, and based heavily on their experiments with improvisation. Its avant-garde presentation takes influence from free jazz and post-rock, while hints towards country and grunge pop sneak in to give the whole thing a simultaneously melodic and sinister edge. “Big Fertilizer, Big Pesticide, Big Gas-Powered Leaf Blower, you name it, they’ve poisoned you and all the animals you love,” they state. “Humans have allowed it to happen all this time, but when we’re gone, everything good and green will be restored, as if we were never here at all. Don’t get it twisted, this song is optimistic.” Keep an eye out for Mudglimmer when it drops on November 8th, 2024. -Dan Peeke
